Children Are People...

I'm not sure I mentioned it or not but I have been trying to clean out some trunks and stuff I haven't looked at in years. Well I have come across a plethora of stuff, photos, clippings, articles. Items I haven't seen in years ...some of these photos I don't ever remember seeing (my Mom saved everything...hmmm that's where I get that from...). Oh the memories... So I thought I would post some of them on my blog, bit by bit as I uncover these things. Some of these pictures have never been seen before. Some of them are from my childhood and many are from my modeling years... What should I call these postings? I think I want to give it the same title every time I am going to post one of these finds. Any ideas? Angela's Attic? The Treasure Chest? Flashback? Write me your ideas...I want something clever... and then...as I find the time...I will scan them and post them so you can see them too.
So I am starting with this one...mainly because it seemed seasonally appropriate...
The cover of the Los Angeles Examiner TV Weekly with an article about the 2nd Chevrolet Special I did (replacing the Dinah Shore Hour). The show consisted only of kids...and it was called "Children Are People". The first special was called "Ghosts, Goblins and Kids". Rusty Hamer (pictured on the cover) was not in the specials...but he played my brother on the "Danny Thomas Show." How challenging it must have been to produce and direct 300 youngsters in this special. I remember parts of it like it was yesterday.

Speaking of challenges...this will be such a challenge for me, being the time of year it is and all I have on my plate right now...but I cannot resist... it is such a cool idea and I love a good challenge. The deadline is November 1st so you gotta hurry... but anyone can do it if you can make art.

Hope you take a few minutes to watch this. It reminds me how art is changeable, movable, evokes emotion and can be totally enchanting.

a little bit of light...

A couple of weeks ago I made my way to Zinnia who has moved into their new space at 1024 Mission Street in South Pasadena. I dropped off 3 pieces for the 350' event this coming weekend October 24th. It's such a cool idea...and lots of great artwork will be available for sale at the amazing price of 26.58! Check it out to see what it's all about. I'll be there...can you be?

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CLIMATE ACTION

Now a few words about the amazing NEW Zinnia. It's still filled to the brim with goodies galore but there seems to be so much more...there is also a great new roomy room for classes...
It's a place that inspires...Tamara brought over the old counter and made it the new floor! How inventive...
Zinnia is known for it's wide assortment of odds and ends...and the new store has a long doo dad table with all those crazy findings. Plus there is so much more...papers, crafting supplies, including a whole section for books and magazines... And there's a whole Gallery in a room that displays the coolest art. Like Joe's...LOVE IT...(this room is where the 350' event will have the artwork hung.) I just have to say... Zinnia is one of my favorite places. A true little bit of light in the art world.

entering the Twilight Zone....

So last weekend I stepped into the Twilight Zone at the Hollywood Celebrity Show in Burbank. Sis Veronica and I were there on Saturday...and it was alot of fun.
Ran into my pal Bill Mumy...and there were lots of stars there that can take you down memory lane. If you have never been to one of these shows...this is a good one. Hope to be there October 2010...come by and say HI!

festivities on the weekend

Here I am at my 'Altered Paradox' exhibit at Pergolina. There was a great turnout and it was a festive and lively evening.

Richard Doran showed his photography on the opposite wall, me and Joe Mantegna.

My exhibit consisted of 55 smaller works of altered photography with watercolor on canvas and wood that I took on my cruise this past summer. I'm working on getting the images from this show up on my website....I'll let you know when I do so you can see the whole exhibit.

It was great to see people trying on my ac studio 9 art.wear. The Hole'n One can be seen on Marly in the upper left corner and lower right corner on Connie. Sis Veronica wore her 'Poet' Shawl'. Adorable Matthew and Sophia sport the curly q scarves, Becca wore her Gallery Skirt and Tawny and Bristol looked stunning in the Twilight charmeuse Stole'n Scarf. I had on the cozy poinsettia throw'n go.
Mary bought the Devon Highland Wool Pocket Scarf to wear on her trip to Copenhagen.
At the end of the evening, Connie put the Twilight Charmeuse Stole'n Scarf sideways over her Hole'n One. How cool and creative is that?
It was great seeing everyone enjoying my art.clothes. That's what my goal is...to make clothes that are artful and comfortable.

altered paradox...

My new exhibit will be here before I know it. I have been working on the art day and night, night and day. Not only will there be my new art at Pergolina, I'll also be signing my book "In This Garden" and my original garden art that appears in the book will be on display. I will also be signing "Mixed Emulsions" my book on altered art techniques.
In addition I will be showing my ac studio 9 Fall/Winter collection.


I thought I would give you a sneak peek of just a few of the original photo.art I have mounted on canvas and wood...The show runs through October 31st so if you can't make it to the opening, you can drop by anytime. Pergolina is a cool place. If you live elsewhere I will be posting it up on my website once the show opens and I get some sleep...

a swaggering day...

Ever wonder where the stars get all that cool stuff they wear. And they always seem to be on top of the trends? The Emmy's are on this Sunday and in Hollywood they hold these swag parties where people with really cool stuff give you gifts. It's kinda like Trick or Treating as an adult.
I went with my sister Veronica, whose new show Eastwick, will premiere this Wednesday the 23rd at 10:00 on ABC. Hope you are all going to watch!

there is not much that makes me happier than a white wall
and a strong sun....

So when I was outside watering the garden...and I noticed our white wall...and how strong my shadow was on it...I ran inside and grabbed my camera...for a little shadow play.

homage to kachina...

I've been out of sorts lately...because my kitty Kachina passed away.

She was a great cat...and she lived to be 20 years old. That's 98 years old in people years.

She had good life...she was a loving friend...

So I like to imagine she joined the Kitty Circus...
she would have liked that...

I posted this back in February...so it seems only right I should post it again as a
final homage to a very special family member.

thinking small...really small

Willard Wigen creates his art on the tiniest of surfaces. Like in the eye of a needle, on the head of a pin or on an eyelash...Willard’s micro-sculptures have become so minute that they are only visible through a microscope.






How does he do it? His story is pretty amazing...and he has a book being released soon.
