come and gone...

The Artist Reception for my exhibit 'Beyond The Pale' has come and gone. The gallery was bustling with lovers of photography, family and friends who came to offer support and check out my latest endeavor. The evening was a blast and very successful.

Here is writer extraordinaire James V. Hart, my daughter Becca, me, my son Jesse, my sister Veronica, Jim's wife and long time pal Judy (who had just flown in from New York with Jim), and hubby Steve.

A beautiful bouquet of red roses was delivered from Phil Erklen and the IMS Syndicate, my friends in Colorado. They are gorgeous.

...Musician, actor and old pal Bill Mumy dropped by and told me my other shows were like "Meet the Beatles", but this show was like "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"...what a compliment...!WOW

A big thanks to Vince and Mardjie, owners of A Studio Gallery and Franks Black & White Custom Lab (which is behind the gallery). They are terrific people to be associated with. A STUDIO GALLERY is excludively a black and white photography gallery. My art begins with black and white fiber prints of my images that I hand-paint and merge with altered art techniques and mixed media.

I loved making this art. It was a journey that was so fulfilling and has ignited a passion to keep spreading my wings...It is so freeing to have the show up and out there. If you can't come by in person and want to take a look, I have posted the exhibit on my website.

Congratulations on your exhibit, Angela. :) So glad it was a success. Are you nervous during shows, or do you just not think about that and have fun? -Amanda Brooks

I just try to enjoy the moment and have fun. I know not everyone is going to like everything...all I try for is to evoke some emotion...and I find if my art comes from an authentic place...people feel that. It always fascinates me to see who is drawn to what piece...and why...art is so personal.

I know what you mean. I write romance novels. Although I do it for me, I want fans to like the work and the characters. They're like your kids. You understand if they don't like the book, and yet, you hope they do, and ignore those who don't. And then you try to make the next one better. But it's also very important to me to enjoy writing the story. In the end, the reviews don't matter. -Amanda Brooks

Wow...I just looked at the pictures you posted on your website of your work. "If these walls could talk" is my favorite piece. The number three has always stood out to me. I like that you have three images and the way the colors clash but go together at the same time. "Bridges" is my second favorite because it reminds me of when I was 3 or 4 years old and watched my grandmother working on a drawing of a bridge. I remember seeing the picture and wishing I could be like her. I didn't remember that until now.

All of you work is beautiful! Be proud of yourself.

It's nice to see that your art is successful, Angela. Congratulations! It must feel good to do what you like to do and have your work being recognized.

It's funny that, while I read your post, I was listening to the Beatles. I love those kinds of coincidences. The comparison fitted perfectly :)

What about a thought of coming to another hemisphere?

Good lucky with your present and future works!

Angela - congratulations! I wish I could have been there!! Gorgeous - just absolutely gorgeous. And it looked like such a fun time. I am in love and completely enamored with Gateway and Secrets. They are all just so beautiful - the books are wonderful. Beyond the Pale is just an inspired creation of work!
P.S. You look stunning in your photos.

Wow! All of that time and work came together and it's over already! It's kind of like planning a wedding, isn't it? So much work and preparation and it's over in a matter of hours!

It looks like your show was very successful.

Not being an artist, I have never experienced putting something like your show together, but I can certainly imagine the work, love, and sense of accomplishment that would be involved.

I loved looking at the photos from the event. Now maybe you can sit back, drink tea and relax for awhile!
