refreshing the soul...

Time to refresh the soul...that calls for a walk through Descanso Gardens...
So my friend Ellen and I headed out to regroup and recharge ourselves...Descanso Gardens is the perfect place to do that...and it was a perfect spring day...

there's a new fountain at the entrance...
And then there was a walk through the lilacs...I could not believe they were still in bloom...so fragrant...they were intoxicating...

breathe deep...

On our visit to the Carriage House we chatted with the watercolor artist Belinda Del Pesco whose paintings of her trip to Rome were inspiring to say the least.

Then we headed up a new path, one that had just been cleared to see where it would take us...

Soon we found ourselves with a birds eye view of the Boddy House and the valley beyond...It was a beautiful day...and the hike was like a walk in the clouds...So we sat on a rock up there above the gardens for awhile and we talked and sat and we were quiet and sat some more and soon we felt peaceful and hopeful sitting there on hope rock.
yeah...I needed that...

What a beautiful way to spend a spring day. I have always wanted to go to Descanso Gardens. I'm in Corona, so I'm not that far away. I really need to take the plunge and just go. I remember going to the Arboretum on a field trip in first grade and I loved it. Maybe that's what gave me the true gardening bug. Well, that and the fact that my mom was a gardener as well.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures:

It's been a few years since my visit to Descanso Gardens. It's still one of my favorite places. The next time I make it out west I will definately make time for a return visit. Amazon.com just sent a note to let me know that "In This Garden" has been shipped. Just in time for spring. The weather is finally turning and I can't wait to sit in my garden and enjoy what I'm sure will be another amazing Cartwright/Fishburn collaboration.

Thank you so much. My soul has been in need of refreshment -- and the lilacs won't be out here for at least another month, likely longer.

What a beautiful, beautiful, place to recharge oneself.

That place ,esp the path, looked mighty snaky.I "HOPE" you did not get bit.

So nice to see the lilacs. I grew up with a huge bush in MA but my bush here in CA only usually gives me a couple of tiny blooms a year and none this spring. I don't think it was cold enough this winter. So thanks for the lovely photos and reminder of times past!

Angela, I just got a post from a friend on my facebook. You have to look it up on You Tube. It brought chills to me, to hear Julie and you of course, broadcast thru Antwerpen. Maybe you've seen it but if not search You Tube for (written exactly like this): Centraal Station Antwerpen gatt uit zijn dak. And no this in NOT an April Fool's. I will state that even though you don't know that about me... my reputation hasn't preceded me.... has it? Enjoy... CB
