The holidays are filled with traditions in this family...one of them is all going together to pick out the Christmas tree. We got a beauty this year...can't wait to get the decorations on it. Thanks to Jesse's long arms, we were able to get this family tree shopping portrait.
Because of my English heritage, since I was a child I carried with me the European tradition of the Advent Calender. Veronica and I would trade days and open the chocolates behind each window. I loved how it counted down the days...I carried this tradition into the lives of my kids and we had an Advent Calender with small doors that opened to reveal a teeny ornament behind each day. Becca and Jesse would trade off days each morning in December.
Several years ago I created an Advent Calender with glass tags...and now I am the one counting down the days till Christmas morning... Here are the tags I made...25 of them in all...
I think it is traditions like these that keep the magic in Christmas... yes...some traditions are worth preserving....

Thanks for sharing your wonderful Advent Calendar! The 11th is a particular "favorite thing", as is the family photo touch of Dec 12th. The youngest girl on Dec 22nd looks a lot like TV's Linda Williams circa late 1950's...no, couldn't be!
Happy Holidays!
We always had an Advent calendar for the kids, too, but they had to trade off more, because of there being four. September went all out and got the boys each their own, but there are only small pictures behind the doors. The glass tag one is very cool.

Hi Angela, I think it is wonderful that you have kept your english traditions and passed them on to your family. I always loved my layovers in england at christmas time.My last trip was to manchester and there was a european christmas market set up near the hotel.I just love Stickey Toffee Pudding with real english cream.Your glass tags are so lovely and unique. One looks like you and and veronica sitting on santa's lap.Cute family picture with the tree. Please take a picture of it when decorated. Also love the christmas music.Take Care.
