inspired by...

My Enchantresses are appearing in an article in the Spring issue of Art Doll Quarterly Magazine. I used my artist papers as backdrops and so enjoyed putting these little ladies together.

There is an article about the Theatre de la Mode doll sized mannequins in this issue. The original garments, hand sewn, hand beaded and hand embellished garments were inspired by the top designers of Parisian haute couture houses in the late 1930's and early 40's.

I can just imagine the detail and beauty the original mannequins wardrobe must have. I hope I can make the exhibit up in Maryhill Museuum in Washington sometime to see them in person. I still have some of my original Barbie doll clothes and I love the details that went into those original clothes. Real silks and cottons, authentic tiny pearl buttons and the tiniest zippers. Their hair is a little on the dry side after all these years, but the workmanship in their wardrobe is still apparent.

Those are fantastic! I love them.

Barbie was my best friend growing up. I still have every piece of Barbie item that I owned and I'll be 40 this year. I even have several collector Barbies still in the box. I especially love my Romeo and Juliet, Merlin and Morgan Le Fay, and Arthur and Guinevere. They are all so beautiful. They are wearing little costumes and they are so intricate.

There are pics on this site:

Was the beautiful collabrative necklace that you contributed to ever auctioned off? It was an amazing piece and I was hoping to bid for it. Hopefully I haven't missed it.

These take my breath away. They are such 'my style' and everything that I love. I am truly inspired. I am finding myself making more and more romantic 'paper doll' or doll pieces created out of my imagination with a sense of whimsy that reflect the days gone by.

I can't wait to pick up this issue of Art Doll!

Oh my gosh! Those are amazing!!They look like your picture came to life. Like. . .doll portals into your pictures. I love how a few of them are like 3-D self portraits. Really gorgeous and unique. Fantastic.
P.S. The tie piece was 24 x 30.
Oh and also - I hope you had an amazing time at CHA!
