tea time...with a hint of champagne

7:30 am: A Royal wedding is the perfect excuse to break out the tiara...
bake scones and serve them with lemon curd, raspberry jam, fresh clotted cream and strawberries...

serve hot tea and have the tv remotes handy...

have a friend show up in a hat...
and drink fresh orange juice with champagne...
That's how we Brits do it as we celebrate the wedding of William and Katherine...

I was up at 3, watching it. No champagne tho. bummer. I loved her dress, and her mom look great. The queen was lovely in her yellow. We've been watching the history of the Windsors , and we saw the King's Speech. I love English history. It was a really nice wedding. I liked the fact that she didn't have a huge wedding party, given the bad economic times.

Funny thing is, as I was watching the wedding, I kept thinking it reminded me of Julie Andrews when she got married in Sound of Music! They kept showing the scene from above, the music, etc. I thought of you and smiled.

Oh, more perfect is impossible! Here in Brazil the wedding "starts" at 6:00pm but I have some coffee, not tea! Love your little "party" and tiara and hat!

The whole day was so perfect, her dress, the Abbey, just sparkling, the weather was kind !! 30 years ago, I went up to London, the night before Charles and Diana's wedding, found a spot on the pavement and waited ! The next morning was just so exciting, waiting to see the Bride. The first thing we heard was one of the bands coming, then all the famous guests going by in cars and carriages, the Royal family, and finally Diana and her Father. It was just amazing. The atmosphere was something I had never witnessed before. Sadly, the marriage was not to last and poor Diana was never to see her oldest Son on his wedding day, but as en English person, it made me feel very proud to be British last friday. I think British ladies feel a certain Motherlyness (if thats a word) towards William and Harry, and to see him so happy and in love was very emotional for us. His Mother would be proud, and truly, we all feel that this is going to be a happy and long marriage.

How wonderful! For me in Australia the wedding started at 8pm on the Friday night. I hosted a little party at home with a buffet and we wore tiaras and drank champagne as well. We also have pictures of ourselves with the TV showing the wedding. It was a great night and I loved the wedding, the fashions (well maybe not some...), the pageantry and the horses. The Brits do it so well.
