putting on the snow...

It snowed today...something that doesn't happen very often in the valley where I live. It started as hail, huge marble sized pieces bombarding the back yard. So I grabbed a couple of scarves and wraps, my camera and umbrella, and went and stood in it for a few minutes. Now I know this sounds silly to everyone in other parts of the world that has been shoveling snow since October...but for us in Southern California...it was, well,  exhilarating...and it encouraged a few pics before the moment of bliss was over.
Peyton the snow dog

Am I crazy or is there a snow bear next to rose bush on my front lawn??? Do you see it?

Apparently this combination of sleet, hail and rain is called grapple...
but I call it awesome...

Bear???....Ummm...of course I see the Snow Bear... and, oh look, there's Snow Boo-Boo too.. ... Hope I am not losing my "grapple" on reality. Most people, even where it snows a lot, still feel a certain excitement at the first snowfall of the year. I love your pics in this post.... Your nose looks cold though.

In Brazil is very uncommon snowing, just at two south states and pratically there's no winter compared with USA, for example. We live in a kind of 40º microwave with rain all afternoon. But is ok, the "Carnaval" is coming, next saturday, I invite everyone to watch on Globo International the parades, it's awesome!

*the "bear", amazing, hehe!!!

Awesome and exhilarating are two words that are not on my list right now for snow. I could, however, offer you many others. This has been the toughest and longest winter I can remember. Your photos do make it look romantic and fun. Love the Lomo pics.

I just learned the term 'grauple' too when we had some here in Washington State at the end of December. It's been cold and snowy up here all week as well. Amazing it went so far south to your place!!

Snows laying pretty on the hills here in Palmdale today too. Haha, Peyton should have one of those little barrels tied around his neck, ala St. Bernard!

Cool snow pictures! We never get snow here in Napa. But I was in Prescott, AZ over the weekend. We got snowed in there briefly!
