It's all about independence...and how happy we should be that we have it...and how we should respect others independence, and count our blessings for ours. And it's about freedom...and how we take it for granted...and how we shouldn't...
This doormat looks a little worn out...like it's been walked on with dirty feet...it's a bit dingy and the edges are frayed somewhat...but it still has it's stripes and it's stars...and for that...I am grateful...

Today I'm celebrating Canada Day, and yes, we do tend to take our freedoms for granted... thank heavens that we live in places where it's possible to do that, even though it may not be advisable.
Nice reminder Angela. I fear that freedom (And independence) is fast disappearing... perhaps dismantled and taken apart.
Beautifully said!! We all need to remember to count our blessings!
I enjoyed seeing you yesterday in the reruns of The Twilight Zone. Wow, you're everywhere.
Here's a clipping you may enjoy, From (my almost local) the Macon Telegraph...

sdealfitzgerald...don't you just love the Twilight Zone marathon? However, it was my sister Veronica in the Twilight Zone episode you mentioned. I did an Alfred Hitchcock Presents, but never a Twilight Zone.
Funny , my country " looks a little worn out...like it's been walked on with dirty feet...it's a bit dingy and the edges are frayed somewhat...but it still has it's stripes and it's stars...and for that...I am grateful.." . As am I.
I love America. I believe in Frank Capra's version . Mr Smith Goes to Washington, Meet John Doe, It's a Wonderful Life America. It is not in the politics, it is in the everyday people who step up when there is adversity. We are the most generous people in the world and can do anything if we try.
