whiter shades of pale

I just finished my 'white' chunky book page I made for a swap and here it is. It kind of looks like I've felt all week...a shade of pale.
I've been under the weather for the past week. I don't get sick very often, but I'm afraid this bug got me. It's been chilly here in LA and I've had my slippers on all week. Drinking enough tea that I'm surprised I haven't floated away. I've still been making art...but it's been slow going...just haven't felt the spark...however, today I turned a corner and I feel human again...

Surfing around and checking out my friends blogs is a good thing to do when you are feeling uninspired and out of sorts. I was thrilled to see Celine Navarro used one of my nest transparencies from the 'Cottage Garden Collection' in a piece of her artwork on the home page of her website. The three collections of Angela Cartwright artist papers, vellums and transparencies are available from Stampington & Company if you want to check them out... http://stampington.com/html/somerset_artistpapers_ac.html

Here's a piece I love that Sarah Fishburn made called 'Real Life' using several of the transparencies from the 'Casa Vista Collection.'

In 'Transparent Art' several artists used my transparencies in their art throughout the book. Did you know that's my photograph that Nina Bagley used in her art hanging on the cover of the book? Nina gave me this treasure and I hung it in a small window in my home that I pass everyday. I have really enjoyed discovering the many uses of transparencies and using them in my art...and it's a thrill to see my photography being used in other peoples art too.

Here's a piece I just finished with my angel transparency from the Stone Portals 3 sheet. I need an angel on my shoulder to catch up on everything now that I've lost the week...
Instead I have an angel at my feet...

Your piece looks good, but yeah, PALE!!
Glad to hear you're starting to feel human again.

Your dog is adorable. What kind is she? It's Peyton, right? How did you choose her name? Peyton Place? :) Hope you're feeling better. Just probably exhausted. I hardly ever get sick, too, just when I'm exhausted.

I enjoyed looking at your facinating pieces. I'll check back soon. I went to art school at the Art Center College of Design in LA.

You should join Illustration Friday. One of your links, Tartx, is part of the group. You'll find that it does wonders for your web stats, but I was warned, and I found it was quite addicting.

Wecome to the blog world.

Hello, Angela,

Congratulations for your pieces of art. They look amazing, you sure got a lot of inspiration. May I ask why did you choose the name "Casa Vista" to one of your collections? It's a Spanish or a Brazilian/Portuguese name?
Is there a link where I could check the collection?

Thanks, Aline.

Hi Aline
Actually 'Casa Vista' collection was named by the folk at Stampington. It was a perfect name. Many of the images are from the California Missions that I have photographed. Many have a spanish influence.
I have put links on the front page of the Blog that show all the collections on my site. Then there is a link to Stampington where they can be purchased.

Angela the pictures are beautiful - I love seeing what people do with your transparencies! I can not wait to play with the ones I picked up from Sarah!

I have to tell you that I grew up with you as a favorite actress and now to know you are an artist I think you are even greater!
I love ALL your work.
I am working so hard myself as an artist and trying to get even a small image published in one of Stampington's fine mags. Any hints on doing this? I've been rejected once and have three more submissions in their hangs for consideration. I guess persistence and a try and try again mentality could just work.
Check my blog,
